Experience
ECS (contract)
Sep 2024 – Aug 2026
Senior Application Developer · Washington, DC
A mission-critical national data system used by federal, state, and local agencies.
Cloud Modernization (May 2025 – Aug 2026)
- Developed backend services and front-end features for the program's cloud-native replacement platform: C#/.NET microservices (ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server, event-driven messaging) and a Blazor WebAssembly client, deployed with Kubernetes on AWS.
- Led the migration of a core service's public API from MVC controllers to ASP.NET Core minimal API endpoints, rewrote its test suite, and updated OpenAPI client generation so downstream consumers stayed backward compatible.
- Designed and implemented a domain-model change in an event-sourced service: authored the design document and TDD plan and delivered it without a schema migration by versioning configuration in the event payloads.
- Contributed to the shared Blazor client and to service data loaders; coordinated client-package upgrades across the front end and dependent services.
- Wrote NUnit/Moq tests against in-memory databases and worked within Azure DevOps and GitLab CI pipelines (container builds, package publishing, database migration scripts, Kubernetes deployments); remediated static-analysis findings.
Legacy Product (Sep 2024 – May 2025)
- Maintained and enhanced a mission-critical .NET Framework/WinForms desktop and Windows-service application deployed to agency sites nationwide, delivering client-requested updates and defect fixes on a 20-year-old codebase.
- Owned installer and patch engineering: maintained InstallShield/MSI installers and PowerShell deployment scripts, generated and validated release patches, and resolved defects where MSI packaging behavior diverged from required install behavior, verifying each patch through the full multi-step site install.
- Implemented DISA STIG compliance updates, including security-hardening and rollback scripts for servers and workstations.
- Maintained the product's secure software-update and licensing mechanism, and supported the program's transition to the cloud-native platform.
BetterCampus (formerly BetterCanvas)
Dec 2022 – Sep 2024
Full Stack Software Engineer · Remote
Chrome extension and student productivity suite for the Canvas LMS; 1.5M+ users, 5-star rating on 8,500+ reviews.
- Built features across a Chrome extension (Manifest V3, TypeScript/React) and its Supabase (Postgres) backend as the product grew from a theming extension into a full productivity suite with user accounts and a Pro subscription tier.
- Developed content scripts that augment Canvas pages in place (themes and dark mode, an enhanced to-do sidebar, and grade tracking) used daily by more than a million students.
- Integrated the Canvas REST API for course and assignment data and the Google Calendar and Microsoft Graph APIs so students can sync assignments to their own calendars.
- Implemented account features on Supabase (auth, cross-device settings sync) and their API endpoints; shipped releases through the Chrome Web Store, including Manifest V3 migration and permission reviews.
